United Electric Controls Wins Chemical Processing Vaaler Award for Hybrid Safety Transmitter
WATERTOWN, MASS., USA — Sept. 29, 2015 — United Electric Controls, has won Chemical Processing magazine’s prestigious Vaaler Award for its One Series Safety Transmitter — the first SIL 2-certified transmitter designed solely for safety system applications. Selected in the instrumentation and category, the United Electric Safety Transmitter (ST) is the first transmitter to incorporate a logic solver and high capacity safety relay output (SRO) in addition to an industry standard transmitter – all in one explosion-proof enclosure.
“Our judging panel, which is made up of veteran engineers with broad experience in diverse technical areas, assesses entries based on their significance, novelty and broadness of applicability for improving the operations and economics of plants. They recognize that safety is the number one priority at sites and appreciated the role the hybrid safety transmitter could play in keeping plants safe and controlling costs,” said Mark Rosenzweig, Chemical Processing’s Editor-In-Chief.
Unlike costly, overcomplicated process transmitters that must be adapted for safety use, the One Series is engineered to protect, giving safety teams simple setup and fast, safer and affordable performance — from the start. The transmitter is available in versions that monitor temperature and pressure.
“We are indeed honored that the judging committee has recognized the unique capability our transmitter. Because it functions as both a transmitter and a complete, field mounted SIS system, it is sometimes difficult for people to appreciate its full value. We are grateful to Chemical Processing magazine for providing forums such as the Vaaler award to help us communicate that,” said Wil Chin, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for United Electric Controls.
